Cannigione

Cannigione, as its name reveals is filled with reeds which often rustle in the strong winds. Cannigione is situated on the west waterfront of the Gulf of Arzachena, and was at one time a fisherman’s village, one of the very few along this coastline. Thanks to its favourable position, even Cannigione was recently overtaken by tourism and has developed a series of hotels and sports facilities. Thanks to its tranquil coves this antique fisherman’s village has been transformed into a welcoming port. At times the Gulf resembles a Fiord as it creates spacious lagoons, and natural habitats for many species of aquatic birds, amongst them herons, and is the ideal place for those interested in bird-watching.
