Cannigione

Cannigione, as the name suggests, is the place of many thick reeds, rustling under the caress of the sometimes rough wind. Cannigione, located on the west shore of the Gulf of Arzachena, was once a fishing village, one of the few sprung up along this stretch of coastline. Thanks to its favorable position, even Cannigione was recently conquered by tourism and as a result a range of hotel and sports facilities have been developed. The tranquility of its waters protected by an inlet in which it stands have transformed the old fishing port into a large and welcoming harbor. The gulf, in some parts, takes on the characteristics of a fjord so as to create large lagoons, the natural habitat of many species of aquatic birds, including egrets and herons, ideal for bird-watching enthusiasts.
